But this bonus level has a different structure; it’s much more open, and utilises every power-up rather than leaning into just one or two. Once you’ve rolled credits on Sony’s superb platformer, you’ll unlock a new stage named Winter Wonder, and it’s probably the most feel-good, most Christmassy thing you can play on PS5. Reaching https://ok365.best/ before the blue and red birds will reward players with the two Rising Heat VIP Bots. Beating the blue bird’s time (90 seconds) will unlock the Exalted Exo Cameo Bot, which is based on Cayde-6 from Destiny.
It could be said that the combination of futurism with cuteness perfectly embodies the identity of the Japanese roots of the PlayStation brand that Kutaragi started. Characters like Toro, Parappa and Ape Escape’s monkeys share a somewhat similar blend of digital, cool and cute. Team Asobi cements itself as an essential PlayStation studio with an imaginative platformer for the ages. Bots are white humanoid robots, with two arms and legs connected to their bodies through sockets.

With the success of Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Team Asobi and Astro Bot jumped to the PlayStation 5. The post regarding the new Astro Bot update also teased new Special Bots for each stage, and gave the first look at the Atsu bot based on the protagonist from Ghost of Yotei. The rest of the new bots are based on fan-favorite Square Enix characters that PS5 players will certainly enjoy. Each of the 11 levels can be found by finding a secret exit in various other levels throughout the universe. There are 91 stages in Astro Bot, making this one of Team Asobi’s biggest and most ambitious games to date. Between them, they boast well over 460 collectibles, including 120 Puzzle Pieces, 10 Lost Galaxy Warps, and 332 stranded Bots that are just waiting to be rescued.
There are 43 Rescued Bots to collect in Tentacle System, and you must rescue all of them in order to unlock the Tentacular Spectacular trophy. This includes all Rescued Bots on secret worlds in Tentacle System. The PS5 features a slew of fantastic story-based games, including titles like Final Fantasy XVI, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Ghost of Tsushima. Astro is the main character of the Astro Bot series and serves as the captain of his ship’s bot crew. A brave and adventurous robot, Astro will stop at nothing to rescue his crew and bring them safely back.
These levels feel so Nintendo-like because they get everything out of their ideas. If you’re small but you can become big, can you blow stuff up from inside? Astro Bot is a platformer that genuinely thinks like the best platformers out there. It anticipates the things that you will anticipate, and then goes one better. There are jokes about tech demo ducks in here, then, but there’s also the sense the whole thing is, on some level, a huge tech demo.
Other than these gameplay examples, the special bots in the game also have unique and special animations that you can unlock in the game’s Gacha Lab, which adds even more personality to the already amazing-looking models. But where the real brilliance of Astro Bot becomes apparent is in the worlds themselves, which constantly add unique features, gimmicks, and mechanics, but integrally those all build off those core foundations of gameplay. In one, you hit switches that change the level between night and day, changing the entire layout at the same time. In another, you shrink into a tiny mouse, seeing things from a whole new perspective and opening up wild new solutions to puzzles. Past that, another level has you growing flowers to make your way up an ascending staircase of giant pots. There are musicals to play through, obstacle courses, giant robots to resurrect, and more.
What Are All Special Bots In Astro Bot? Robbit – Leaping Lapin
I grudged having to play through my most anticipated game of the year before getting to play more Astro Bot – that’s how good this game is. Like Stephen has mentioned, this is an endlessly inventive title that joyously plays around with the level design, the mechanics, and the themes of every level. There are enough ideas in Astro Bot to fill a dozen regular games. The power-ups flesh out Astro’s move set which, on its own, is fairly simplistic. However, while his range of moves isn’t particularly deep, they’re executed excellently.
While the game doesn’t have separate graphics options, on PS5 Pro players will automatically get a “constant best resolution” at 60 fps. The following guide includes the identities of every Astro Bot cameo character, as well as information about the stage or area in which they’ll need to be unlocked. Players can also watch the video at the top of the page to see their animations and Gatcha Lab items. Astro Bot[a] is a 2024 Platform game developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 5. It released around the time of PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary.
@nicc83 I would say around the hour mark if you just do the main levels and that’s it, but if you want to see and do everything, likely 20 hours or more. Obviously it depends on how much exploring you do and how much you’re bothered about collecting everything — it’s a very meaty 3D platformer in my opinion and a really nice length. Astro Bot is a showcase of a developer working at the top of its game, but most importantly a developer that keeps fun and playfulness at the forefront of everything it does. Finally though I want to highlight the fantastic score, because like its levels, it bounces around genres, delivering consistently catchy head bobbers, on top of slightly remixed versions of iconic Sony soundtracks. I know this OST is going to be in my regular rotation once it finally drops on Spotify, because it’s simply too good to leave locked within this game. Carefully jump onto the invisible platforms above the other sunken stones in the desert until you reach the other side (remember to use your booster dog).
Astro Bot – Five New Weekly Speedrun Levels And Special Bot Updates Begin Rolling Out Today
A sequel, Astro’s Playroom, was released for the PlayStation 5 as a launch title that is pre-installed on every console and serves as a tech demo for the new DualSense controller. When it’s all done I’m left with that strange feeling of being very well cared for. But when I close my eyes I see the tumbling fruit, the hundreds and thousands, the gems stacked so high I can kick through them as if I’m wading through autumn leaves. I think, more than anything, of all the glorious bits and pieces.
Meant to mimic a dolphin-like dive ability, the controls used for this one never feel as intuitive as those for other abilities. In this level, I found it unusually tricky, albeit not exactly difficult, to collect all the secrets. It was manageable, but if any secret levels–which tend to be some of the game’s hardest–also use this mechanic, I expect them to become some of the game’s few frustrations. Like its predecessor, Astro Bot is a love letter to PlayStation–not just its current make-up, either, but its illustrious history.
